The Hermitage Lawn

This photo of my Dad was most likely taken in the 1960's as you can see Dad is sat on a seat with some of the patents he was in charge of. At this time he was a charge nurse of Hermitage Ward. The photo was taken in the corner of the airing courts

The second photo below shows dad with one of the nurses who worked under him. Unfortunately I do not know his name. Behind you can see the wall of the airing court and past that is what looks like the new OT block. Just in front of the wall are a couple of patents sitting on the bench watching what was going on

Roll on to 2010 and the lawn is looking like this, the benches long gone or rotted away

The tree they stood under is still there though. Behind that you can make out the OT block

The OT block was still there in November 2010

But a couple of weeks later in December it was gone, I missed that one.

The sign on the left went sometime in 2012 and by 2013 the road leading to the old OT building looked like this.

By the end of 2013 it was looking like this

and early 2014 people had moved in to some houses and the others nearing completion

Little happened to the lawn  till 2013 when you found the tree fenced off

and the lawns there torn up by contractor machines

and in January 2014 the area looked like a quagmire

By June 2014 the place looked different and had dried up

though looking at the place I wondered if it would ever be the same again

but 3 months later and the lawns were cut

people lived in the houses built where the  old  OT block used to be.
The tree still stands in the airing court by Hermitage ward surrounded with memories of the people who used the lawn. I wonder what Dad would make of it all.
